Chief Old Sun School K-6
Chief Old Sun School was named after leader of the Blackfoot Chief Old Sun from Siksika Nation the late 1800’s. Chief Old Sun School serves children in K-6.
Na’to’sapi Chief Old Sun School was established in 1976. It was originally located next door to Old Sun College. In September 1988 the current school was officially opened. Chief Old Sun School has expanded since 1988, with the current population of 358 students and 40 full-time staff. The school had an extension and modernization to accommodate all of the students and our programs, which was officially opened in October 2005.

Our Nursery Program (K-4) is for children age 4. This age group is working on developing fine and gross motor skills, gaining independence, and developing social skills through play.
Our Kindergarten program focuses on the following skills: early literacy and numeracy; citizenship; awareness of the environment and the community; personal and social responsibility; physical coordination and well-being; and creative expression.
Our Elementary school program learn important skills and knowledge through direct instruction from their teachers, opportunities for problem solving, and independent mastery.
The Siksika language and culture program is an integral part of our curriculum that includes experiential learning, where individuals immerse themselves in the teachings.
